Pat discovered he had chronic kidney disease at just 25 years old during a routine physical while trying to join the AirForce. Despite the initial prognosis of needing dialysis within 5–7 years, Pat’s commitment to a low-sodium diet, regular exercise, and monitoring his protein intake helped him delay dialysis for 30 years. At age 64, Pat began dialysis, navigating the challenges with patience and perseverance. Through the incredible generosity of a friend of his wife, Pat received a life-changing kidney transplant after 3.5 years on dialysis. Now, he’s passionate about sharing his journey and helping others find hope and support through the living donor process.
